Short Summary Why Disney Cruise Line Is For Adults Only

Here is a summary of why a Disney Cruise is for adults

Everyone can wear Disney costumes.

We were surprised how many adults entered the Disney spirit on our cruises. Some wore costumes on Pirate Night, Mickey Mouse ears to breakfast, and some came in full "Disneybounding." For me, it makes the environment even more fun and lively. The fabulous get-ups add to the spectacle of it all. However, if you want to skip all that and enjoy the cruise your way, that's fine. It's your vacation, and there are no set requirements. On our first cruises, we were pleasantly surprised by the number of adults who fully embraced the Disney spirit. It was heartening to see so many individuals donning costumes during Pirate Night, sporting Mickey Mouse ears at breakfast, and even taking the extra step of "Disneybounding" to fully immerse themselves in the magical atmosphere. These added touches enhanced the overall experience and made it even more exciting and fun. However, we understand that not everyone may feel comfortable dressing up, and that's perfectly okay. We want to assure you that you can enjoy your cruise and make it your own. No set requirements or expectations exist, so you can relax and enjoy your vacation fully.

Where are the kids

Contrary to popular belief, a Disney Cruise is nothing like Disney World. Are they expecting crowds and chaos? Think again. Disney Cruise Line has created dedicated spaces that cater to children of all ages. From kid's clubs to pools, these areas are well-staffed by counselors who entertain the children with daily activities. Our children loved the clubs so much that they made friends and spent all their time there, only appearing at dinner. This ingenious separation of young people from adults allows us to enjoy our space. So, if you're skeptical about a Disney Cruise, don't be. It's an experience like no other.

Adult-only activities and events

Adults can enjoy various classes and fun activities day and night, exclusively for ages 18+. On recent cruises, we have witnessed beverage tastings such as wine, martini, champagne, beer, whisky, cognac, tequila, rum, etc, fitness classes, tours of the ship and galley (I highly recommend the Art of the Theme Show if it's offered), dancing, live piano performances, magician/juggling/hypnotist/comedian shows (for adults only), adult costume contests, trivia contests & pub quizzes, shopping seminars, crafts, karaoke, video game challenges, fantasy football, self-improvement seminars, ice breakers, and get-to-know-you socials.

Adults-only spaces

Every Disney Cruise ship has designated areas exclusively for adults, such as pools, sundecks, and hot tubs. These areas are isolated from the rest of the ship, providing adults with plenty of space to relax and unwind without the disturbance of children. Similarly, at Castaway Cay, a section of the island called Serenity Bay has been designated for adults only. This area includes a private beach, a restaurant, and a bar where you can enjoy a refreshing Konk Kooler drink. Eating at Serenity Bay BBQ on Castaway Cay has its benefits, too, such as shorter lines and entrees like grilled steak that are not available at the family restaurants on the island.

Lots of bars and lounges to try

Like many other cruise lines, Disney Cruise ships offer a wide range of cocktails and alcoholic drinks that can be bought throughout the ship. There are several designated areas for adults to relax, including piano lounges, sports bars, and nightclubs that showcase live music and dancing. These spaces are modern and fun, and Disney has made significant efforts to ensure they are first-class.

Entertainment is outstanding

Disney is renowned for delivering top-notch entertainment suitable for all age groups. I believe. The quality of their shows and performances is unparalleled by any other cruise line we have traveled with. The unique guest performers, stage productions of Disney musicals, and nightlife offerings are exceptional, and children and adults can enjoy the shows together. With Disney's evening marquee entertainment, you are guaranteed to have a great time and won't be bored.

Adult dining

All Disney cruise ships offer a premium dining experience at Palo, which serves outstanding Italian cuisine. Guests can enjoy an elegant brunch or a luxurious dinner while savoring the stunning views. In addition, the Fantasy and Dream ships feature an exclusive restaurant called Remy, which offers delicious French fare. On the other hand, the Wish Ship has Enchante, a Beauty and the Beast-inspired restaurant with a menu curated by a Michelin chef. Remy and Enchante have dress codes and are open to adults who book reservations in advance. Whether you prefer a brunch or a sunset dinner, a visit to either restaurant promises to be an exceptional experience.

All the ships are beautiful

The question asked is whether the Disney cruise ships have pictures of Mickey Mouse and friends all over them. The answer is no. The ships' designs evoke the "golden age of sailing" with Art Deco or Art Nouveau styles. Moreover, the 18+ areas of the ship have been carefully planned to avoid anything cheesy, campy, or overtly "Disney." Instead, Disney's Imagineers have thoughtfully brought forward themes to their adult spaces that are elegant, classy, and inviting.

What is missing on a Disney Cruise

No Casino.  There are currently no casinos on any of the Disney cruise ships.

No Profanity. Even during adult-only entertainment, performers honor Disney's family-friendly brand by avoiding profanity or poor behavior.

Summary

A Disney Cruise is a must for those without children who love Disney.
