MEYER WERFT has successfully delivered its latest cruise ship, the Disney Treasure, to Disney Cruise Line. The Disney Treasure boasts some of the most complex and innovative entertainment facilities in the cruise industry. The ship was completed ahead of schedule and will set sail with guests in December.
"We are thrilled to hand over the Disney Treasure to Disney Cruise Line today. She represents a significant milestone in our long-standing partnership, and everyone at MEYER WERFT has poured tremendous effort and passion into this ship," said CEO Bernd Eikens. He signed the handover papers alongside Bernard Meyer and Thomas Mazloum, president of Disney Signature Experiences.
"The Disney Treasure showcases our commitment to bringing the magic of Disney cruising to an ever-growing audience. Today, we take another step closer to introducing this spectacular ship to the world,” stated Mazloum. "We are incredibly grateful for our collaboration with Meyer Werft and look forward to a bright future together as we continue to expand the Disney Cruise Line fleet."
Families can look forward to new adventures aboard the Disney Treasure, featuring imaginative experiences inspired by Disney’s rich portfolio of stories. Highlights include theatrical dining inspired by Pixar's "Coco," an original Broadway-style adaptation of the Walt Disney Animation Studios film "Moana," and a new collection of Disney Parks-inspired lounges for adults, including the first-ever Haunted Mansion-themed bar.
The Disney Treasure is the latest addition to Disney Cruise Line’s fleet and is the fifth Disney ship constructed by MEYER WERFT. The partnership between MEYER WERFT and Disney Cruise Line began with the delivery of the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy in 2010 and 2012, respectively. In 2022, the Disney Wish, the Disney Treasure’s sister ship, was also handed over to Disney Cruise Line. The third ship in the class, named Disney Destiny, is currently under construction in Papenburg and is scheduled for delivery in 2025. Furthermore, in August, Disney Cruise Line and MEYER WERFT announced plans for the German shipyard to build four additional ships, which will join the Disney Cruise Line fleet between 2027 and 2031.
MEYER WERFT has contracts for 10 cruise ships, a research vessel, and four offshore converter platforms, all of which are set to be delivered by 2031.
